StarWars Episode III seals the deal · 1936 days ago
Episode I created a coffin, II created something worthy of it, and III was the nail sealing it closed forever.
That said.. It was better than Episode II, but that’s not saying much for the standard. What I was really unimpressed with not the special effects (those who know me can vouch for how anal I can be about them so congrats to the folks at ILM) but with Natalie Portman’s performance. Her lines were delievered dry, unimpressive and generally lack luster. Her delievery even recalled scenes from Gardenstate with striking similarity.
For those that have seen it Vader said it best with:
“Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!”
For those that haven’t – wait for blockbuster and a rainy night.
Portfolio book is soo close! · 1937 days ago
I’ve been biting the bullet these past few days making my first draft of a printed portfolio. It’s so tiring though.
3 days of jumping between the following:
Collecting your drawings, scaning them, then fixing them up.
Rendering your digital work for print.
Lay all of it all out on the page, write the copy.
Collect artwork from collaborative projects..
Remind people about sending work.
Much respect to the graphic designers out there..
But just 2 more pages.. and wow won’t that feel good then.

Weekend of Gaming at HQ · 1942 days ago
This weekend was very unproductive, but that’s not such a bad thing. Marco and Deon joined us for almost 14 hours of lan goodness. We played a bit of Unreal 2k4 before moving on to a mod called AlienSwarm. Jeebus Christ it’s a cool twist on the engine.
First of all – the camera is top down, rather odd for a fps and secondly is unbelievably difficult. In all the hours we played we beat maybe 5 levels. Almost 4hrs a piece of trial and error – yet we kept on playing. Mostly because we played to keep everyone alive after we lost Jeff in the first round and saw how much it hurt us in the end. Strongly suggest checking it out – even the single player looked like a bunch of fun.
To keep us going members of HQ went out and got a huge selection of bottled root beer, cream soda, sassparilla, orange and bottled pepsi. Oh and not to forget bawls. Dinner and a movie featured Apple Seed and pizza – although the latter was much more amusing imho.
All in all a good break from the steady work getting ready to grad. Thanks to Marco and Deon coming – can’t wait till next time.
