Nocturnal once again! · 2140 days ago
Imagine that, within two days of the DSL connection going live we are all sitting at home surfing at 4 am in the morning. I’m glad for it going to bed at 10pm bored out of my mind was starting to make me feel old.
Our new DSL connection is beautiful in that non-sight based way. It’s nice to finally have a connection that is hard for us to completely use and trust me after not having the internet for 4 weeks we had plenty to get the other day and yet none of us could feel the connection saturated like before. It’s definatly not the story of well damm I can’t load a website like it was at the past HQ. Needless to say I can now download an episode of tv and watch it in about the same time as if I were to watch it on tv – cept I get to choose when (15minutes of download = 15min of cut ads, ah commercial free via piracy.)
In other news, Counter Strike: Source is amazing – they didn’t mess with a thing, why should they it’s the number 1 game by far.
Movie recomendations: Still Garden State if you’ve missed out on that or Friday Night lights.. but come a few more days The Incredibles.

Yesterday was probally the worst day I’ve had in the city. I guess it’s days like that which teach us how indecent human beings can be and what little space on the planet we deserve by default.
My day began to my roommates alarm clock at 6am (par norm) which is never a good thing, but life. However that seems insignificant against what happened to me on the way to school. While waiting to cross the street (19th and Tarval) some pompas asshole threw a fountain drink out of the car he was traveling in and hit me on my left arm. At first I thought a seagul had hit me, and I was just about to laugh at the thought as I felt the soda (Mountain Dew) seap through my t-shirts. By the time I realized what happened he was long gone and I’ll I had was the polite stare of the individual waiting to cross the street behind me. I couldn’t go home and change because of a quiz in my class, so for 4hrs I sat in class trying to remove the sticky feeling from my backpack, arm, tshirt, calculator, ipod etc etc… But I survied class to come home to SBC.
SBC was suppose to remove the DSL signal from our phoneline, after all we never told them to put it there to begin with. VERY long story, suffice to say 4 weeks – no DSL, HQ very very mad. Turns out the brillance of this phone company is unspeakable as in the process of turning off the DSL signal they also removed our phone line. You’d think that a phone company could handle mundane maintence tasks without a hitch, but alas that just wasn’t going to happen for me today. That was at 10am, before I was leaving for school. When I got back at 6pm they had yet to fix the problem, so I called again. After having Heather navigate the dumbfounding menu I spoke to a nice lady who in 30 minutes was able to have our phone line re-connected. Amazing! – oh wait… 2 minutes later the phone beeps twice and the dial tone is gone. WTF mate. In the end, apparently our phone line freezes for lack of a better term now and then.
The highlight of the day – I was undefeated vs. myself in pool all night long. Even ran the table once.
Life is just a little bit clearer · 2153 days ago
Tonight I took a step back and finally went out and saw Garden State with Travis. We’d been talking about going out to see it since we moved, just never did. I remember thinking good things about it when I first heard about it, but even with high expectations this independent film impressed. Zach Braff and Natalie Portman were easily entertaining as they both shared the screen with good strong camera work. If you haven’t seen it – you should. If not, settle for the soundtrack with is almost as good.
As for how/why life is clearer, in the movie Natalie Portman plays this inquisitive female with her own problems (albeit dwarfed by the lead characters) but she reminds me why I liked Jodi so much. Life was just different around her. In one part of the movie Natalie’s character just gets up and makes an ackward sound while she jiggles then explains to Zach how that’s the only time that will happen in human existance and that for the split second she feels unique again. That is attractive, and I guess I miss that. Just feel like another person caught up in what is San Francisco most days. Guess I’m starting to just miss that ‘safe homely’ feeling Zach described towards the end aswell, it’s been awhile. As like Zach, I feel like I’ve lost that essensce of ‘home’, after all I live at HQ not home. Home is a distant memory of good old times.
Old Friends Drop In · 2153 days ago
This weekend has been good. Then again any weekend where I don’t do much homework and hang out with friends normally is. Some old friends from the comp corp days dropped in (Paul and Kristin) and it was very welcoming to see them again, been awhile since I’d seen any 4H friends in town. We didn’t do much, just went out for dinner and lounged around my pad and caught each other up on our lives. They both seem to be doing rather well, enjoying the earlier parts of college where you just hang out and make fun of your classes.
Perhaps they will be back shortly and I’ll have to go sightseeing with them, just maybe.
In other news.. STILL no dsl, I’m just about to break and Jeff is days past the thin red line. The current torrent build-up has surpassed 40. Much downloading to do!
