It’s clearly a sad day when I need to discuss the importance of stressing an unacceptable shift in peoples perceptions. Since moving into the city 2 years ago, I’ve known 2 different people that have had their personal space (their home) invaded, which both times has resulted in a police report for theft.

Both are very undesirving of this lack of respect by anyone. Since when was it acceptable to somepeople to make a living by threading on others. And not just by stealing their possesions, but steping on someone else at work for that promotion etc. Lieing/Cheating/Slander to advance all appear more and more ‘accepted’. I’m not religous, but, I DO PRAY DAILY that this lack of personal morals changes quickly and soon. Nothing is wrong with a little competitive spirit to advance yourself, actually I think its a good thing. All things in moderation though. It’s days like this I wish I could move back to CANADA and especially ThunderBay away from civilazation into a social climate far more supportive that this absolute freefall we call capitalism. The day.. the day.

It was only a matter of time..

WB has a new show to poke fun at the american idol and a like reality shows. Except this time they are looking for the worst performer. This idea, while rather humerous has been poorly put together – very sad producing. Americans are stupid yes.. but going over and over about the gag at the end became a neccesary fast-forwarding moment (No wonder TIVO’s are so popular).

What drives me nuts about it tho, is they continually tell the singers with talent they suck to get rid of them – when all I can think about is that they might be one of the talented bunch that could perhaps get rid of all the crap on the airwaves and replace it with something good.

On a sidenote about TV: Pen and Teller is a must watch/download/freeload at your rich friends place with the big screen etc..

This weekend we had a little shin-dig before finals. Jeff does a great job with the overview on his site.

Sunday a few of us went to see Troy, great visuals.. horrible dialogue though. ITS AN EPIC STORY – snazzy one liners just didn’t belong… argh It drives me nuts when everything has to have some comic element to it these days. And what’s with the shorting of years?!? I mean is a cross disolve and a change to the playing field to show the missing 5 all that hard to put in? I’d go back to Van Helsing over this, but not by much.

A very well done piece, which does a great job of mocking current culture every step of the way. I wil admit I had my doubts about a sequel, but I believe dreamworks pulled it off to the degree of Toy Story 2 and Pixar. The group of us chuckkled and laughed the entire time, a rare feat. The animation is beautiful – with a few exceptions though, but not enough to even ruffle myself. I will say not for the deep thinker, as Dreamworks basically hits you with everything leaving very little to be subtule about it.
